Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone today visited the University of Northampton to speak to students and staff about their experiences and perceptions of crime.

Danielle spoke to representatives of the Students’ Union and security staff from the University to discuss key social issues such as violence against women and girls, knife crime and drug offences.

Danielle also met with the dedicated University of Northampton Policing Team, who are based at of the Waterside Campus.

Danielle said: “It was fantastic to be able to speak to both students and staff at the University of Northampton to get a real understanding about their views on crime as young people.

“Whilst the students had some concerns, they all said that they feel safer as a result of both the policing team on campus and the University security team.

“Helping to keep young people safe is at the heart of my Safe and Sound Plan, so I hope to be able to continue to work with local policing teams and the University going forward.”
