Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone attended the Blakesley Show on Saturday (August 1), meeting farmers, rural organisations, elected representatives and residents at Northamptonshire’s largest country show.
The annual event celebrated the county’s farming heritage and rural way of life while providing an opportunity to discuss the issues and challenges facing those who live and work in Northamptonshire’s countryside.
During the show, Danielle was joined by Deputy Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Marianne Kimani as they met representatives from the National Farmers’ Union (NFU), Sarah Bool MP, Stuart Andrews MP, local authority representatives and members of the farming community.
Discussions focused on a range of issues, including rural crime, farm fire safety, mental health and wellbeing, emergency response arrangements and opportunities for partners to work together to strengthen support for rural areas.
Farmers spoke positively about their relationship with Northamptonshire Police’s Rural Crime Team and the work being undertaken to tackle rural crime and protect local communities.
The Commissioner also visited the show’s education area, where children and young people were learning about farming, food production and the vital role agriculture plays across the county.

The visit comes ahead of the Commissioner’s Rural Round Table this week, which, alongside Sarah Bool MP, will bring together partners and stakeholders to continue discussions on the opportunities and challenges facing Northamptonshire’s rural communities.
