A solicitor’s firm with two Northamptonshire offices has signalled its intent to support safety for women in the workplace – by becoming the latest signatory of the Northamptonshire Women’s Charter.
Borneo Martell Turner Coulston LLP is a law firm offering a broad range of legal services for individuals and businesses and employs 53 workers across its offices in Northampton and Kettering.
They are the latest of 119 organisations to sign up to the Charter, and by doing so pledge to take simple steps in their workplace to make women and girls as safe as they possibly can.
Danielle recently visited their Northampton premises on Billing Road, where she explained the benefits of signing up to the scheme. This includes access to bespoke training packages for staff, support from crime prevention specialists to make any physical improvements to safety at their premises and becoming part of an ever-growing community of organisations committed to making Northamptonshire a safe place for women.
The firm have already sent a Women’s Charter survey out to staff, which is part of the suite of resources made available to signatories, asking for any actions they can take to improve safety in and around their premises.

“Many of our staff, clients and their families are based in the county. We’ve all read stories in the news, but many of us will also know of women and girls who have experienced harassment, violence, or intimidation at home, in work or on the streets. In Northamptonshire there are women and girls who are currently in unsafe situations and who may feel unable to get help.
“We all benefit from working together as by doing so, we can do everything we can to achieve equality and inclusivity. We want a culture which is positive and safe; where harassment, violence and intimidation towards women and girls is not tolerated and we can help those who are subjected to such behaviour.”
Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone said: “I am pleased that Borneo Martell Turner Coulston LLP has signed the Charter and pledged to do all they can to help keep women safe.
“It was great to meet some of the staff during my recent visit, and it’s clear that they have a lot of passionate people across their offices who want to play an active part in championing this work and becoming part of a supportive community of advocates.
“We can’t deliver this work in isolation, so it’s great that our local organisations are committed to helping us push this work ahead.”
