Northamptonshire residents had the opportunity again to have their questions answered by Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone and Chief Constable Ivan Balhatchet.

Over 180 questions from the public were submitted during the latest ‘Chat with the Chiefs’ which took place last night (September 29)

The online public meeting was live streamed across Facebook and YouTube and covered issues such as road safety, anti-social behaviour and drug use. Danielle and Ivan provided updates on:

  • The work of Operation Snap which allows motorists to submit dashcam footage of driving offences – which has now had over 2,100 submissions with over half of all cases ending with a positive outcome.
  • Tackling anti-social behaviour with dedicated high visibility patrols in identified high demand locations across the county as part of Operation Reassure.
  • Clamping down on illegal e-scooters and e-bikes with Northamptonshire Police seizing 348 dangerous vehicles so far in 2026.

Ivan also updated the public on the search for new police stations in Kettering, Towcester and Corby and the Force’s response to their HMICFRS inspection whilst Danielle reminded residents how they can keep their communities safe with money from her Road Safety Community Fund.

Ivan also announced that Northamptonshire Police would be launching a series of hyperlocal online public meetings to allow residents to find out updates on policing in their local areas.

Chief Constable Ivan Balhatchet said: “Chat with the Chiefs is an important opportunity for us to hear directly from the people we serve and to answer questions about the issues that matter most to them.

“Whether residents raised concerns about road safety, anti-social behaviour or local policing, these conversations help us understand where we need to focus our efforts and explain the actions we are taking to keep our communities safe.

“We are committed to being open and transparent about our work, and I would like to thank everyone who took the time to submit questions and join the discussion. We look forward to continuing these conversations through our new programme of local online meetings.”

Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone said: “Online meetings like these play a pivotal role in my work in holding the Chief Constable to account, so I am grateful to the residents across the county who interacted with the session.

“As well as answering questions from the public, it allows us to listen to issues from our communities and to ensure that their concerns are reflected in the force’s activities.

“Honesty and transparency is vital, so we hope that by hosting broadcasts like this, residents across Northamptonshire can hear about all of the great work being carried out by our hard-working police officers and staff.”
