Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone is lending her support to an event that brings local stakeholders together to tackle retail crime.
The Northamptonshire Business Crime Partnership (NBCP), in association with Smoke Screen UK, is hosting its ‘Fight Back Against Retail Crime’ event at The Castle Theatre in Wellingborough on Tuesday, November 10 from 10.30am until 1.30pm.
Danielle will officially open the event and is the first of several speakers from across policing, crime prevention organisations and retailers.
The Northamptonshire Business Crime Partnership has worked with businesses across the county for the last 25 years to reduce shop theft and other retail crime. It also has two retail crime Evidence Gatherers – funded by the Commissioner – who liaise with retailers to help build relationships, improve evidence gathering and support prevention and intervention strategies.
Danielle collaborates closely with NBCP to tackle retail crime, which has a significant impact on both businesses and the wider community. They are one of several partners that attend the Retail Round Tables convened by the Commissioner to share best practice and find solutions to prevent shop theft.
The NBCP event at The Castle will also hear from Inspector Adam Morrow on the evolution of Northamptonshire Police’s dedicated Retail Crime Team. This was formed in 2023 and is having a positive impact on bringing prolific offenders to justice.
The event will also hear from members of the Wellingborough Neighbourhood Policing Team on how they tackle organised crime on the High Street, as well as speakers from Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Northampton Town Centre BID and more.
The event is free to attend, with refreshments and lunch provided. Although advance booking is not essential, organisers are encouraging anyone planning to attend to email [email protected] to help with arrangements.
