Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone welcomed eleven new Neighbourhood Police Officers to Northamptonshire Police on the final day of their course at Force Headquarters.
The new recruits – who have completed an intensive twelve-week course at Police Now’s training academy and within Northamptonshire Police – will now be placed in police stations around Northamptonshire to complete a two-year programme while integrated in communities.
Danielle encouraged the introduction of Police Now as a route into the Force to support the growth of neighbourhood policing in Northamptonshire and increase diversity.
Recruiting through Police Now enables the Police to potentially attract a wider range of people from varied backgrounds, bringing different experiences into the county.
Danielle closed the course, speaking to the new Officers about her role and how their fresh perspectives will help to improve the safety of people in Northamptonshire.
Danielle said: “Policing is tough but rewarding and the commitment of these new officers will make a real impact to neighbourhoods across Northamptonshire.
“I supported using Police Now to recruit as they have enabled us to reach a wide range of new officers, bringing diverse experiences and new perspectives into policing.
“I am pleased to be able to work alongside Chief Constable Ivan Balhatchet and his team in attracting and retaining police officers.”
PC Lynsey Reynolds, one of the new recruits, will be based in Northampton.
She said: “I wanted to become a police officer so I could make a difference in keeping people safe, particularly as a parent with young people growing up in the county.
“I joined through Police Now as it was a fast-tracked way to join the Force. It was an intense course where I learnt a lot in a short time. I’m now looking forward to getting started, connecting with the community and playing a part in protecting people in Northamptonshire.”
Danielle added:
“It was a real pleasure to meet such enthusiastic new recruits who are eager to create change and I’m confident they will play an important role in keeping our communities safe.”
