The Immediate Justice Team from the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone has begun to facilitate reparative work to clear up the Greenway between Rushden and Higham Ferrers.
The Immediate Justice programme ensures that those who have committed acts of anti-social behaviour pay for their crimes through work that aims to give back and repair our public spaces and community areas, so that everyone can enjoy them.
Last week, the team began a project to clean up the Greenways between Higham and Rushden Lakes. So far, they have spent five hours with one person, clearing, cutting back vegetation and litter picking in sections of the paths to ensure they are clean and clear so people can feel confident walking down them.
Danielle is pleased that the team is facilitating hours to clean up the paths. She said, “I recently visited a school where young people told me that they didn’t feel safe using the Greenway as it was overgrown. Young people should be able to get to and from school without any worries and I am pleased that the Immediate Justice Team has been able to go in and tidy up the area.”
You can expect to see the Immediate Justice Team back on the Greenway to continue the project to clean up the Greenway in the coming weeks.
