Budget Consultation 2026-27
Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone has launched her council tax precept survey – which is asking residents across the county how much they are willing to pay to support policing and fire services in 2026/27.
The survey is asking for views on an expected increase of £14 a year for policing and £5 a year for fire for an average band D property.
Danielle said the increases are needed to balance the budgets of both organisations and invest in policing and fire services so that they can deliver her Safe and Sound plan for the county.
Danielle said: “It’s never easy to ask for more money, but it’s my responsibility to set the precept for Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service. I must balance the impact on taxpayers against the need to invest in these important public services so that they can deliver on the public’s priorities.”
The full news release issued by Danielle can be read on the OPFCC website at the following link: Have your say on funding for policing and fire and rescue services in Northamptonshire – Northamptonshire Police & Fire Commissioner
The survey is now open and runs until midday on Monday 5 January 2026 – https://www.research.net/r/OPFCCPR25
