Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone visited Standens Barn Primary School on April 29 where she held a community safety meeting with parents.

Danielle wanted to hear their genuine views about the neighbourhood, and she was pleased they shared their honest feedback.

Parents were asked how safe they felt living in the area and whether environmental and physical security could be improved.

Themes of concern included young people not having enough to do after school and they also spoke about feeling unsafe while walking to and from work in Weston Favell when it’s dark.

Other feedback included tackling fly-tipping, vehicle break-ins and tool theft.

Danielle, who was joined by public safety partners from West Northamptonshire Council, captured the parents feedback to share with policing leaders.

Amie James, headteacher of Standens Barn Primary School, said: “We are in full support of liaising with the Commissioner and providing a place for our parents and carers to share their suggestions for the local community – change can only happen through a collaborative and responsive approach.

“In school, our detailed curriculum is designed to help our children be safe and thoughtful and it is important that these values are upheld by all in the local community.

“We aim for our children to be aspirational and proud of where they live and the community they belong to, so they have bright and successful futures.”
