Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone visited The Ferrers School in Higham Ferrers yesterday (June 2) to see an innovative project, funded by the Northamptonshire Serious Violence Prevention Partnership.

Pol-ed is a set of resources and lessons designed to ensure young people have the knowledge and skills to make informed choices. They were developed by teachers for teachers, providing expertly designed, age-appropriate lessons to help keep young people safe.

Danielle was invited to the school by Assistant Principal Kerry York to sit in when a group of Year 8 students were being taught about Public Order offences –  learning the definition and the consequences of carrying out acts such as criminal damage.

Danielle Stone sits at a white table wearing a black top, she is talking to two young girls with long brown hair, wearing blue shirts. A man with dark hair is standing over the table wearing a long sleeve pale blue shirt.

Danielle said: “As a former teacher, I was keen to see a Pol-ed session taking place. I thought it was a fantastic programme and I am pleased that The Ferrers School team has been taking advantage of the resources available.

“I also enjoyed speaking to the students and hearing their thoughts and feelings, particularly about safety.”

Schools that are interested in the programme can sign up directly through the Pol-Ed website to access the full range of resources.
