Council Tax 2026/27
The council tax precept for Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service
2026/2027
The precept is the part of the council tax -18% of the total bill – that goes towards Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Both services are facing significant financial challenges and this year, I am asking you to pay:
- an increase of £15 a year in the council tax precept for a Band D household towards local policing. This will mean a Band D household pays £335.04 a year towards Northamptonshire Police in 2026/27
- an increase of £10 a year in the council tax precept for a Band D household towards your fire and rescue service. This will mean a Band D household pays £90.39 towards Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service in 2026/27
This increase will go towards keeping police officer and firefighter numbers and delivering essential frontline services.
I will make sure the money you pay continues to help deliver local priorities and will invest in preventing crime, reducing demand on policing and supporting victims.

Services delivered by the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner
Through my office, I deliver services that focus on intervening early to prevent crime and support victims.
My teams work to reduce demand on policing and make communities safer. This includes:
- The new Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Early Intervention Team works with frontline officers to intervene early with young people at risk of committing further anti-social behaviour in their neighbourhoods
- The Immediate Justice team works with low level offenders to repair the harm they have caused to communities through reparative work – with those who engaged far less likely to re-offend
- The award-winning Op Satin project has reduced the number of occasions where children have repeatedly gone missing – thanks to early intervention officers putting support mechanisms in place to prevent repeat behaviour
- More than £100,000 has been awarded to grassroots projects through my Safe and Sound grants scheme – helping to prevent crime and better connect local communities
- More than £90,000 has been invested into local schemes to make roads safer for both pedestrians and drivers – thanks to funding from my Road Safety Community Fund
- I have launched the Northamptonshire Women’s Charter, bringing together organisations to promote safer environments for women – and therefore everyone – particularly in the workplace
