Find out about the work of the Independent Custody Visitor scheme in our new briefing.
The scheme sees people from the local community visit custody centres to speak to people detained by the police to ensure their welfare and fair treatment.
In Northamptonshire there are currently 24 Independent Custody Visitors aged between 18- 85, with differing backgrounds and ethnicities, aiming to make sure the scheme represents all of our communities.
Last year (March 2024-April 2025), the Independent Custody Visitors made 104 visits to custody and saw 440 detainees.
You can read the briefing and find out about more about other services provided by the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone on the Our Work page.
