NFRS Decision Record 58 Smoke Alarms

Decision taken
The PFCC has taken the decision to agree the budget of £25k for three years, plus one for the purchase
of smoke alarms. This procurement supports the delivery of Home Fire Safety Visits to meet statutory
obligation to promote fire safety. Installing smoke detectors and ancillary products for those unable
to help themselves and who are vulnerable to fire risk also enables Prevention staff and Community
Risk groups personnel to reduce risk in the community in line with the Integrated Risk Management
Plan. This is part of the ongoing Prevention strategy, rather than new work.

Details of advice taken
Professional financial and legal advice has been sought to ensure the decision best supports
business need and represents value for money.
