The room has framed posters on the walls, a shelf displaying various model buildings and items, and a potted plant to the left. The certificate is held centrally between the two individuals.

Northampton South MP Mike Reader has signed Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone’s Northamptonshire Women’s Charter, to back a commitment to supporting women’s safety in his office and across the county.

The Northamptonshire Women’s Charter is an initiative to tackle violence against women and girls and create safer environments for everyone. By signing the Charter, Mike Reader MP pledges to listen to the concerns of women and take action to make a workplace that is respectful and inclusive.

Mike Reader MP said: “No woman should feel unsafe or unsupported at work, it’s as simple as that. By signing the Women’s Charter, I’m making a clear commitment that my office will be a safe, respectful place for everyone, and that I’ll keep listening to women’s experiences here in Northampton.

“Signing this Charter is a practical action that all businesses should take. Raising awareness, improving support, and making sure employers across our county are part of the solution, are things everyone should get behind. If we want a safer society, let’s start in our workplaces.”

Three people sit in an office-style room having a conversation. Two people sit on a grey sofa with a small wooden coffee table in front of them, where a framed document is displayed. Another person sits opposite them, partially visible in the foreground. A tall purple banner promoting the Northamptonshire Women’s Charter stands to the right, and posters, a potted plant, and a large window are visible in the background.

Mike Reader MP joins over 50 other organisations and businesses across the county that have signed the Charter and will receive information and advice from crime prevention specialists to improve women’s safety around work premises, and an exclusive Charter Toolkit with bespoke training packages.

Signing the Charter also gives employers access to support to help raise awareness of domestic abuse and advice on how to help staff who are affected.

Danielle Stone said: “I am thrilled that Mike Reader MP has given his backing to making Northamptonshire safer for women by signing my Charter.

“His support will help us drive real change to ensure that every woman can feel safe where she lives and works. I hope it encourages more employers to join us in building workplaces where women are listened to and protected.”
