Request

“I have read your release re the ASB Early intervention team.   I cannot find if the members of the team are Police Officers or Support Staff or a combination of both.  It does not state the number of personal which make up these teams and particularly if they are Police Officers where will they come from, i.e.   removed from front line patrolling officers resulting in the presence of police on the street being recuced.   Could you clarify please?”

Response

The ASB Early Intervention Team have been allocated to support Neighbourhood Policing Teams across the county in addressing anti-social behaviour by working directly alongside frontline police officers to intervene at the earliest opportunity and provide specialist support to children aged 10-17. The thirteen support workers are employed by the OPFCC and are not warranted front line police officers. The team come from a variety of backgrounds including youth work and work on other projects as and when required, supporting, for example, the Youth Violence Intervention Project and the Missing from home project.
