Police

As the PFCC for Northamptonshire, Stephen Mold holds the Chief Constable to account for the performance of policing in the county. Whilst the PFCC is prohibited from making decisions relating to frontline policing, he does set the overall strategic direction of the force and monitors the effectiveness and efficiency of the force.

This is undertaken through the regular Police Accountability Board meetings where areas of concern can be raised by the PFCC, and any actions can be agreed.

Force Performance is also assessed by HMICFRS who independently assesses the effectiveness and efficiency of police forces and fire & rescue services – in the public interest.

PFCCs are also required to publish certain information on a quarterly basis to allow the public to hold them to account. The includes information relating to performance in relating to such crimes as murder and other homicide; serious violence; drugs supply and county lines; neighbourhood crime; cyber-crime. PFCCs also have publish data in relation to satisfaction among victims with a particular focus on victims of domestic abuse.
