Over 30 road safety initiatives have been funded by Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone’s Road Safety Community Fund.
Since April 2025, more than £100,000 has been awarded to projects across the county that aim to improve road safety for both vehicles and pedestrians.
Five new grants have been awarded to parish councils in the past month to help fund signs that remind drivers of their speed, encouraging them to slow down:
- Nether Heyford received £3,221
- Church with Chapel Brampton was awarded £1,250
- Hargrave secured £5,000
- Brixworth was awarded £4,800
- Little Harrowden received £4,151

Little Harrowden Parish Councillors Richard Davies (Chair) and Glynn Cotter
Little Harrowden was awarded the grant to fund their community speed monitoring initiative. The grant will pay for a new vehicle activated sign (VAS) that will allow to parish to gain data to make a case for a speed limit reduction in the parish.
Little Harrowden Parish Council said: “With traffic through Little Harrowden increasing as a result of surrounding developments and drivers using the village as a through-route, we are extremely grateful to have secured this vital funding.
“The new mobile speed sign will give us a vital tool to protect our residents, schoolchildren and vulnerable road users, helping to keep our community safer now and into the future.”
The Road Safety Community Fund is available to organisations to apply for funding for initiatives that support the priorities of Danielle’s Safe and Sound Plan and will create safer roads, footpaths and cycleways in Northamptonshire.
Danielle said: “People have told me repeatedly that dangerous driving, speeding and parking affects their neighbourhood. Which is why tackling road safety issues in the county is one of my top priorities.
“The Road Safety Community Fund listens to local concerns and turns them into real, visible measures that will help to protect all road users. So many communities have applied because they are determined to make a difference to their residents’ safety, it is rewarding that I have been able to help.”
