The Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner has unveiled her Safe and Sound Young People manifesto, setting out a clear vision for how young people across this county will be supported, protected and empowered to thrive.

Danielle Stone’s prevention plan outlines a programme of services and targeted interventions delivered by her office, Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service.

The manifesto is designed to address vulnerability, reduce harm and tackle the root causes of risk among young people, as part of the Commissioner’s ambition to help young people feel safe from harm.

Danielle Stone said: “My long-term ambition is to create safer communities where young people can flourish and achieve their potential, while also reducing demand on policing through effective prevention and early intervention.

“To do this, I’m committed to listening to what young people want, and we’ve asked 2,400 young people aged 11-18 in our Youth Connect survey, making this one of the largest youth consultations conducted in Northamptonshire.

“I will continue to make sure what young people tell me is used to shape decision making and be a call to action for policymakers to work together in this county to deliver better outcomes.”

Specialist teams in Danielle’s office work directly with young people and families, providing support before issues escalate into more serious challenges.

Those include her Anti-Social Behaviour Early Intervention Team, which focuses on early support to children on periphery of crime; the Girls Pathway Project, providing targeted assistance to vulnerable girls at risk of exploitation and violence; and Domestic Abuse Support Team protecting families at the earliest opportunity.

Other initiatives include VOICE, which helps young victims and witnesses navigate the criminal justice process; the Serious Violence Prevention Partnership, working to reduce risk factors linked to violence; and the Prison Intervention Project, designed to help break cycles of offending.

The manifesto also highlights the role of the Immediate Justice Project, offering constructive pathways for young people; the Missing Persons Investigations Unit, which safeguards vulnerable children and young people; and the Youth Violence Intervention Unit, which works to prevent exploitation and gang involvement.
