VAWG services – 22062018-1

Question

  1. What is the budget for commissioning services for VAWG in your local area? Inc. staff costs,
legal costs, market engagement events etc.

Answer

I am writing to advise you that, following a search of our paper and electronic records, I have established that the information you requested is held by the Office of the Northamptonshire Police and Crime Commissioner.

The Northamptonshire OPCC has a budget dedicated to VAWG of £261k, this provides for Independent Domestic Violence Advisers, Independent Sexual Violence Advisers and the wider Sexual Assault Referral Centre services. It is worth noting that Northamptonshire OPCC are not the sole funders of any of these services.

The Sunflower Centre which employs qualified Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVA’s) who have specialist knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse, including the effects it has on individuals, their family, the local community and society as a whole, is funded by all 8 local authorities in Northamptonshire, The OPCC and the CCG. The Serenity Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) is jointly funded by the OPCC and NHS England We also spend a further £865k on Voice which provide support to VAWG victims as well, however we cannot separate this cost out easily as they support victims of these crimes as well as broader.
